Subject: New fence posts

Date: Thursday, January 25, 2018

I am installing new fence. All the posts are rotted at the ground line. Three questions about CPES*.

1) Can CPES* be used to seal new fence posts and prevent ground rot?

Yes, and it often is used for this purpose. Our recommended treatment procedure is to turn the posts upside down, saturate the end-grain and wood that will be in contact with the ground, wait 24 hours or longer and repeat this process, and then put the posts into the ground whenever you choose. There is no time limit for use after the posts have been treated.

2) Can it be applied to Pressure Treated lumber or on better raw wood.?

Either… your choice. If using Pressure Treated make sure it is dry.

3) Can CPES* treated wood be painted with standard exterior latex paint and primer?

Yes, all paints bond well with a CPES* treated surface.

Thanks in advance,
Albert
