Subject: CPES on top of an oil based stain?

Date: Monday, November 27, 2017

Would you happen to know if CPES* epoxy can be applied on top of an oil based stain? I was thinking of maybe doing this on the horizontal pieces on the top of my fence as a water repellent.

Bill

The answer is yes, it can, as long as you realize that like all epoxies CPES* will gradually turn a very light gray due to UV light exposure. The epoxy that goes into the wood is unaffected, although we would recommend that the application be repeated about every five years.
